Why I Chose Animas
I chose Animas because of my experience at Mountain Middle School. I really liked the project-based learning structure, and I wanted to continue that in my high school experience. I have found that I learn best from seeing how to do things and then trying them for myself. When I look back at my experience at Mountain, I feel like I did not learn as much as I should have and I was not pushed very hard. However, here at Animas, I am pushed very hard. Not to the point where it is impossible to learn anything, but I am definitely being challenged here. At Animas, I am taught to think critically, and think for myself, whereas at traditional schools, I have just been taught to memorize facts so I can “pass the test.” I never really liked that learning structure, because I never saw how it would apply to the real world. Sure, I would know a lot of things, but would I be able to solve problems? No. Here at Animas, I now think that I am much more prepared to be successful in the future, and that is exactly what Animas is teaching. That is why I chose Animas.
